The Pendleton Panther

Back from Cali

Posted on: April 13, 2010

This years Pendleton Varsity baseball team traveled to California to play the nations most elite competition in the National Bat Classic.  The first day we wake up around 2:30 a.m, to take a charter bus to tampa because our flight was around six.  After we all get settled on the plane and land in Houston we had a two hour lay over which was too long because of the anticipation of arriving in Cali. Finally we arrive in Cali and we drive immediately to Opening Ceremonies.  Our first game was two days after we got there so we could have time to get rid of the jet lag, all of us very amped up and very excited to play.  We arrived to Cal State Fullertons Field to play the host team (El Dorado).  We played a tough game and lost in extra innings on an error.  That loss took the wind right out of our sails.  The next day we played the former champion (Mater Dei) and we won 3-2.  The following day we played Palm Desert, and we were winning throughout the game when they hit a walk of double to win the game.  The final game we played West Ranch a solid bunch of scrappy kids that could just flat out hit, and beat us 8-3.   That was our california trip, it was rough but a great experience and we will win next year!
