Tiger Announces Return to Golf

Tiger Woods’ first announcement into his possible return delivered a shocking message to the world and his competitors. He stated on Tuesday that he will definitely be back to play in the Masters and feels ready to win. This would mark the first time he has played a professional golf event since his SUV crashing in November that sparked a series of allegations and revealings of his infidelity. According to Golfweek.com, “The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect,” Woods said in a statement. “After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta.” His last event was a dominating victory at the Australian Masters on November 15th, just days before the scandal started. His highly anticipated return will spark a media frenzy in the days leading up to and during the event. The projected TV ratings and ticket prices and attendance will be sky high. “Asked about a Woods return last week, CBS Sports president Sean McManus also thought viewership would be huge: “My only prediction is when he comes back, it will be, other than the Obama inauguration, one of if not the biggest media spectacle in recent memory.” This will be the third time he is coming back to golf from a long layoff. The first was when his father passed away and he proceeded to miss his first professional cut at a major. In the second, he won the US Open with a torn ACL. There are major predictions for his return in a few weeks and we can’t afford to miss this exciting time in sports history.
