According to recent studies 27% of children’s daily calories come from snacks. The youth of the United States have started eating tons of unhealthy foods more often then ever before, his include kids snacking daily, almost three times a day on candy, salty chips and other very unhealthy foods. UNC researchers found that many American kids are drinking more sugar heavy fruit juices, and sports drinks that carry large amounts of calories. Snacking as found to be responsible for more then 27% of kid’s daily calories, and have added about 168 calories to a kid’s calorie intake each day. Although kids should still be eating 3 meals a day, the time in between has been turned into a time to snack on unhealthy foods. The largest increase in calorie intake per day is highest in the age groups that fall between 2 and 6 year olds. Apparently instead of kids picking up an apple, or some celery as their snack they are now aiming toward more unhealthy items then in the past.
