Peppers Signs With Bears
Posted March 6, 2010on:
The Chicago Bears have signed defensive-end Julius Peppers to a six-year deal worth $91.5 million with $42 million guaranteed. His contract is similar to the seven-year $100 million contract that the Redskins gave Albert Haynseworth last year. Peppers had 10.5 sacks last season for the Carolina Panthers. They offered him a four-year $54 contract last year, which he rejected. With his new contract, Peppers will be able make around $110 million from 2009 to 2016. In Chicago, he will team with Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Tommie Harris to form one of the best defenses in the NFL. Chicago’s defense had an average year last year, largely due to an early season-ending injury to Urlacher. They were ranked 17th overall and tied for 13th in sacks with 35. On The Bears also signed running back Chester Taylor and tight-end Brandon Manumaluena yesterday.
