Olympic Stories

Posted on: February 24, 2010

Being an athlete you fell the plain and the struggles that some of these Olympic Athletes are facing. Watching the women ice skating last night, I heard of a Canadian skater who lost her mother two days before she performed for gold. That would be so hard, to finally reach your dream and your mother only able to see a small bit of it. I also heard of another skater. His sister, Jane., died right before he was to complete in the speed skate. He promised his sister that he win her gold. As he rounded the first turn he wiped out twice. Finally a couple winter games later, he wins gold and takes a victory lap with his daughter Jane. It is very ironic, but I wish the Canadian ice skater the best. These athletes are incredible in their sport but when it comes down to it there are real people.

  • Rob Dresser: Many people have a poor grasp of what this is about. At its core this is about advanced stage terminal illness and relieving those in that condition
