Pendleton Loses Close One

In the Semi Final match the Pendleton School versus Lake Wales highschool was one for the ages. Jimmy O’Neill took the Hill for the Panthers, and did a splendid job to say the least. He pitched 6.2 innings while only giving up two runs. It may sound as if he did not pitch well but I beg to differ, the tall right hander only gave up 3 hits going into the seventh. Lake Wales led the game by 1 for most of the exciting game. It was the seventh inning down by one with Casey Mullhaland up to the plate, he hits a blooper that got past the right fielder for a double. Then, in the clutch Tanner Pollack hits a game tying double to put the Panthers on the board. Soon enough Carlos Somoza comes up to the plate, and hits Pollack in for the go ahead run. Although Lake Wales came back firing, they had bases loaded with one out, and their lead off hitter bloops one to the right side to tie the game at two. Then the Panthers bring in Blake Perry to try to tame the Highlanders offense, with one pitch gets passed the catcher and the winning run crosses the plate game over.
