The Pendleton Panther

The new 3D science fiction movie, Avatar, was released in the USA on the 18th of December 2009. Apparently the movie was the most expensive film ever made, with a budget of $300 million. The director James Cameron who was also the director of Titanic, claims he had the idea for quite a while but had to save it because the technology he needed wasn’t modern enough for the movie. The record-breaking movie has become the fastest movie to ever reach $1 billion in ticket sales around the world. In just 17 days the distributors from 20th Century Fox say Avatar has earned more than $350 million in the USA and more than $670 million in the rest of the world.  I usually don’t like science fiction movies but to my surprise this was actually really good, even though it is 2 hours 30 minutes long, it went really quickly. Avatar has only been in the cinema for less than a month and latest figures make it already the fourth-biggest film ever made.
