AT&T Drops Tiger Woods

On Thursday December 31st, 2009, AT&T dropped Tiger Woods. The company said in a brief statement that they wished him well in the future. The reason that the large cellular network company severed their sponsorship deals with Woods was because of acknowledged reports of his martial infidelity. On top of all that, Tiger decided to take an indefinite leave from the professional golf world to focus on rebuilding his marriage. Several other companies have scaled back marketing campaigns that include Tiger Woods since all of this began in November. Some of the companies that have done so include TAG Heuer (the swiss luxury watchmaker), and Procter & Gamble. Also, Gatorade no longer sells Woods’ Tigerade beverage. AT&T had been one of Tigers main sponsors since February and since then the number one golfer in the world carried their logo on his bag. Before he had a deal with AT&T, Woods had a sponsorship with Buick until the General Motors began having financial troubles.
