Yankees move to 2-0 over the Twins

Posted on: October 10, 2009

The Yankees now lead the series 2-0, but the second win did not come easy.  The Yankees markwere down 3-1 in the bottom of the 9th until Alex Rodriquez came up with a key 2 run home run, which forced the game into extra innings.  In the 10th inning no runs were scored which forced the two teams to play a 11th inning. Little was going on during the 11th inning until Mark Teixeira came to bat. With the game on the line, Mark Teixeira walked up to the plate with confidence and hit a homerun over left field to win the game.  When asked about the homerun Teixeira said  “I really thought it was a double, I hit it with so much topspin I thought there was no chance it was going out.” The crowd started going nuts, and then I knew it was a home run.”  Trailing the Yankees 2-0 in a best of seven series the Twins will be forced to win 4 of the next 5 games in order to win the series, which can still be done but they will need to play much better as a team if they wish to make it out of the first round of the playoffs.
