The Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins will need an additional game to determine the American League Central division champion. Going into Sunday tied for first place, both teams came through with a clutch victory to force a tiebreaker to be played on Tuesday. Detroit got a solid start from ace Justin Verlander, a pair of homers by outfielder Ryan Raburn, and a 4-4 day from slugger Magglio Ordonez to beat the Chicago White Sox by a score of 5-3. The Twins easily beat the Kansas City Royals by a score of 13-4. The tiebreaker game will be played at the Metrodome in Minnesota because the Twins won the season series against the Tigers. The starting pitchers for Tuesday’s game will be Rick Porcello for the Tigers, and Scott Baker for the Twins. The winner will play the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series. The loser will see their season come to an end.
