The International Day Of Peace

Posted on: September 25, 2009

Peace DayThe International Day of Peace is an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date. It was created by a United Nations resolution in 1981.  The first Peace Day was celebrated in September 1982.In 2002 the General Assembly officially declared September 21 as the permanent date for the International Day of Peace. Everyone everywhere celebrates this day. Each year events take place all over the world. There’s lots of music concerts, art and culture galleries, sport events. It’s made to promote peace and also to remind people that world without war and cruelty is better place. During this day is the 24-hours global ceasefire, which means that there’s no fights around the glob and no wars. Lets hope that there will be more days like that, and in the future everyday will be a PEACE DAY!

greg, I’ll count this (and the golf club post) as assignment 8. This is for the benefit of your progress report. I’ll explain when I see you in class later today.
