The Pendleton Panther

Remembering 9/11

Posted on: September 11, 2009

9-11-eagleEight years ago today, the horrible attacks at the World Trade Centers and The Pentagon took place in our country.  Thousands of families were devastated from this horrible tragedy as everyone remembers where they were during this horrible time. For me, I clearly remember my friend’s mom coming to pick me up from school without telling me why or where we were going. But we as a country have come back strong.  We have not had any other terrorist attacks since 9/11.  This can be accredited to the tougher security at airports and sporting events.  Although at times it is very inconvenient that you are unable to bring more than 2 ounces of liquids onto a plane at a time, or having to have your bags checked beofre entering a stadium, these new security rules can save thousands of lives.  I don’t know about you, but I would rather be alive than being tired at a queue. This horrible event brought us closer as a country trying to figure out every possible way to prevent these disastrous terrorist attacks and make sure that it will never happen again. Today is a day to remember that we can never be too careful and that lives can be taken away in an instant, without any forwarning.  9/11 for our country is a very sad day that will always be rembered as one of the biggest tragedies in the history of the United States.
