4. The first Halloween card was made in the early 1920s

5. It is the biggest candy purchasing holiday (bigger than Christmas, Easter and Valentines Day)

6. 86% of Americans decorate their homes

7. The first Halloween celebration in America took place at Anoka, Minnesota in 1921

8. 50% of adults dress up 

9. White cats are considered unlucky in England, while black are unlucky in America

10. The original Jack-O-Lanterns were actually Turnips used by the Irish; once they came to America they found more pumpkins then Turnips.

11. Halloween is second to Christmas in amount in spending

12.  There are no words in the dictionary that rhyme with orange and purple

13. In English, this holiday translates to “Day of the Dead” an important Mexican holiday
