Hurricane Katrina

Posted on: October 8, 2008

There have been many natural disasters that have hit all over the United States of America.  The most recent was hurricane Katrina a few years ago.  Hurricane Katrina made landfall in New Orleans, Louisiana and was very devastating to the US. It was a category five hurricane when it made landfall. The winds blew at over 155 miles per hour and tore roofs off houses, uprooted trees and smashed cars.  More than 1300 people lost their lives during the hurricane.  Some people escaped before the hurricane hit but most people were sheltered in the Louisiana Superdome.  That is the stadium that is home to the New Orleans Saints. Many people were crammed in their seats. The stadium was packed to full capacity and was not the greatest place to be. Thank god New Orleans and the U.S. government have come together to overcome this terrible natural disaster.
