Community service is a great way to help your community and give back to the society. It is also good to have community service hours on your college applications. Many colleges like to see a number of hours given to community service because it shows them what kind of person you are. I have participated in many non-profit charity events and I think it has made me a well rounded person. Helping people who are less fortunate than us is always a good deed. I am currently involved in the Pendleton Leadership Core(PLC) which organizes social and charity events for anyone that joins. It is a great group that truly wants to provide help for anyone who needs it. There are programs like big brother/ sister where a person interacts with a younger student and therefore becomes like a big brother or sister to them. I think these programs have a positive impact on both the child and the volunteer. Habitat for Humanity is a program in which people help build houses for poor families. There are many opportunities to help out around our community and I would highly recommend any IMG students that are interested to partake in them.
