Florida Man Freed By DNA Testing

Posted by: socalgolfer on: December 18, 2009

Photo of Bain then at age 19 and now at age 54 after being released.

James Bain, 54, spent approximately thirty five years in a prison in Bartow, Florida for a crime he did not commit. He was recently freed and announced as not guilty when the results of DNA testing came back and had no links to him whatsoever. Bain stated to reporters ” I’m not angry, I got God in my head. I knew one day he will reveal me.” (CNN) Bain was only 19 years old at the time when a jury found him guilty and he was convicted on “charges of kidnapping, burglary and strong-arm rape.” He was given life in prison. According to the Innocence Project, a national organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing, Bai was the person to have stayed the longest behind bars. The U.S. has exonerated 245 people in its history by use of DNA testing.

The 9 year old Lake Wales, Fla. victim had picked Bain out from a lineup of 5 photos of potential suspects whom he stated had “bushy sideburns and a moustache.”

It is always great to see these people receive freedom but it is also very disheartening as these men were innocent from the start and many times were the victims of racial profiling or wrongful accusation/scapegoating.

Pakistan Refuses To Extend U.S. Visas

Posted by: twingecko56 on: December 17, 2009

The U.S. Embassy is located in IslamabadAbout 135 government and military personnel involved in various aid packages for Pakistan well find themselves coming home early.  By refusing to extend the visas of those involved, the Pakistan government has in effect rejected the aid that the U.S. has offered.  This refusal is just one example of the anti U.S. sentiment. that has been growing in Pakistan.  Pakistan’s relationship with the U.S. is shaky at best, as the former believe that the latter only intervenes with them when it serves American interests.  The annual $1.5 billion boost to Pakistan fro the U.S. has been construed at a plan to rob them of the sovereignty.  Whatever the reasons, the current distrust has resulted in the U.S. Embassy working with departments that are 40% understaffed.  However, these denials are not final, as the Pakistan government is beginning to realize that certain U.S. programs are quite relevant to their interests.  The mechanics that maintain the aircraft used to fight rebels on Pakistan’s western border, for example, are being issued extended visas once the Pakistan government realized that their air forces would not operate without them.

House Passes Jobs Bill

Posted by: twingecko56 on: December 17, 2009

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the $154 billion Jobs Bill.  The bill, which has been called a “second stimulus”, has been rather controversial, however, as the vote resulted in a narrow 217 to 212 victory.  The Senate is most likely waiting until next Spring to address the issue, but the bill is halfway to providing funds for training in rapidly growing and new industries.  To combat the rising unemployment rate as of late, the bill is hoped to result in the creation of many skilled–and in demand–workers.  The bill could also help fund firefighter and police forces.  Many parties have opposed to the bill, however, and wonder what good the spending will actually do.  David Wyss, the chief economist at Standard & Poor’s fears that the Jobs Bill may be a repeat of the original $780 billion stimulus bill passed earlier this year, claiming that “We didn’t get a lot of bang for the buck out of that package.”  For now, though, we must wait for the Senate to take up the bill in Spring.

Coaches at Practice

Posted by: cbizzle23 on: December 16, 2009

So we go on tournaments to get looked at but now they are coming to see us? Today (Wednesday) and Thursday of this week, SMU College Coaches are coming to Girls Soccer Practice. One girl on the team is already committed to SMU in Dallas. But the Head Coach wants to look at the whole program. It is exciting to be looked at on your home field but also talk about stress. When you go on a tournament you just see them at your games but now they see everything! See the fields, coaches, the whole team, its going to get completive. We all are excited to see what comes out of this, hoping that the SMU Coach has other contacts. Might spread the word to other Coaches. But here we are, having a coach coming to see us on our home field. A complete flip of a tournament.

Christmas Break and Plans

Posted by: cbizzle23 on: December 16, 2009

As the final week before break comes to an end, we all are facing tests and trying to get through those last days of practice. But after that, most people are going home or seeing family. Get to go home, eat regular food and open presents.  Once you get home, what is going to be the first thing you do? With Christmas approaching, many of us are trying to find something for mom, dad or even that special someone. It is so hard to buy for your parents! With not a lot of money but want to get something worth something. Before leaving for break, there a group of people that are not going to be back when you come back. The US National is leaving for good this Thursday. The younger boys are coming in but wish them all luck . Finally enjoy the break, do not do much, eat GOOD food and remember to not study for the finals that are the week when we come back.

Ocho Cinco To Change His Name Again?

Posted by: charliekennedy on: December 15, 2009

Just when Chad Ocho Cinco was beginning to fall off of everyone’s radar he announces his plans to change his name yet again.  Chad made the announcement that he will be changing his name Sunday morning, before the game against the Lions.  The name Chad Ocho Cinco has chosen is Chad Hachi Go.  Hachi Go literally means eight five in Japanese, which is the same name of his current last name Ocho Cinco just in a different language.  When asked about the sudden name change Ocho Cinco responded “Some fans of mine that are Japanese said I should change my last name to ‘Hachi Go’.”  My take on the situation is that this is yet another publicity stunt by the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver in order to get attention.  Whether it be from crazy touchdown dances to legally changing his last name to Ocho Cinco, Chad has always tried to be the center of attention.

Brian Kelly to Notre Dame

Posted by: charliekennedy on: December 15, 2009

Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly, or I should say former head coach, left Cincinnati last week to become the next head coach at Norte Dame. This all happened after Cincinnati defeated Pittsburgh 45-44 to win the Big East title and they got a bid to play in the Sugar Bowl against Florida. Kelly will not coach the team in there bowl game. This has made national news for ditching his team after leading them to a undefeated season. After the win against Pitt, Cincinnati safety Aaron Webster told reporters that Coach Kelly told them in the locker room that “He loves Cincinnati and I love it here. I’m staying.” Whether Kelly did say that or did not say that, he still left Cincinnati to become Notre Dame’s next head coach. Kelly signed a five year contract which is the same amount of time that the last three head coaches got to try to turn Notre Dame around. The amount of the contract has not yet be released however the amount will most likely make him one of the most high paid coaches in the country. Notre Dame said that they are sure that Kelly will turn the team around and get them back on top of the college football world.  However the five year mark has been set in stone so Kelly will most likely get five years to return Notre Dame to greatness.

World Cup Hosts and Their Group

Posted by: devu91 on: December 15, 2009

South Africa are the hosts for the biggest event on this planet, the Soccer World Cup next year. When the groups get drawn, there are 4 pools that are made before the groups get decided. The categories are based on the ability of the teams, so the best teams will go in Pool A and the worst in Pool D. This is based on qualifying performances.  As South Africa were automatically qualified, they were placed in Pool A.  So for South African hopefuls this was great news, as it meant we could end up in a group without any powerhouses or strong contenders.  The problem is that Portugal and France, both took their qualifying to the very end, resulting in them being placed in Pool D.  And both teams are considered superpowers in the soccer world.  When the draw was done, South Africa didn’t get too lucky. They were drawn with France, Mexico and Uruguay.  Mexico is fairly decent, so now there is a battle amoing 3 teams to progress to the second round.  It won’t be easy to for South Africa to overcome both France AND Mexico.  We will have to wait and see.  The World Cup begins on the 11th of July 2010.

Obama Kills a Fly During an Interview

Posted by: devu91 on: December 15, 2009

During an interview between President Obama and a journalist, a fly started annoying Obama and flying around his head.  Because it took his attention, the interview paused for a moment.  Obama focused in on the fly and set his target.  He raised his hand, like a scorpion ready to sting, and with an electrifying quick smack he hit the fly first attempt.  The fly experienced a long fall to the floor as he had to admit defeat.  The interview still didn’t proceed as Obama got a tissue and removed the carcass left on the floor, alongside his expensive shoes.  When he returned, the interview casually continued.  Now that’s killer reflexes by the President!

Lindsay Lohan Giving to The World

Posted by: lazygirjl on: December 15, 2009

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan has filmed a documentary with BBC, a British broadcaster about the trafficking of women and children in India. Trafficking is the forcing of a person into sexual or labor exploitation. The 23-year old actress stayed in India for a week to film this documentary and visited some of the world’s most impoverished and deprived areas. She has always felt a strong duty to campaign against child slavery and AIDS. Last year while she was being interviewed by a Hollywood celebrity magazine, “In Touch”, she expressed that one of her future goals is to do some charitable works in India.  It seems like her goal has been accomplished. She visited shelters that houses victims of trafficking and spent time with children and other residents there. She also visited hospitals around India and gave gifts to sick children. Lindsay is trying hard to contribute to the world and by saving lives and helping the poor, she is also changing her notoriously naughty and wild image. Her actions should inspire us to do something to help. I can’t wait to watch the documentary, it has been a long time she has filmed a movie or recorded a CD, this is a good start.

Leave the Poor Man Alone

Posted by: bbss23 on: December 14, 2009

Tiger Woods

He has been the number one golfer in the world for many years, the first billion dollar athlete, has his own charity that he donates millions of his prize money to and hosts his own golf tournament every year. I say, give the guy a break. Every sports station you turn on and every paper you open, there is Tiger Woods. Granted, Woods has made some mistakes in the past few years as allegations link him to numerous different women, but considering what so many other athletes get away with, Tiger Woods is doing a pretty good job. Many professional athletes only care about themselves, do not perform charity work, are often found at strip-clubs, handling weapons or drugs, and many athletes do not have the will and desire to get better. After everything that Woods has done, up until this incident, many would think he’s not human as he rarely makes a mistake on the course, let alone off the course. The media doesn’t understand the pressure and spotlight that Woods is under. Granted, Woods did make a mistake; it was wrong to cheat on his wife once or several times but I think Woods knows that himself and doesn’t need the media bringing it up everyday and constantly harassing him about it. Woods has lost sponsorships, mostly likely his wife, possibly custody of his kids and the respect of millions of people. The man made a mistake, a big mistake, and I’m sure he will reflect and learn from this. As time goes on, the Woods saga will become less and less popular but his image has been tarnished for life and it is a burden he has to live with. I feel bad for the man in a sense for all the negativity he has taken, especially after all he has given to the game, the less fortunate and the lessons he has taught to upcoming athletes and adults. Woods will rebound from this and continue to work on and off the field as hard as he can to restore his reputation. Woods has already proved to everyone how successful he can be and he will continue to quiet the critics when he makes that final put on the 18th. Woods may be down, but we can never count him out.

Bleach Attack

Posted by: nataliebea on: December 14, 2009

The movie theater.

Just recently, a 16 year old boy attacked a 46 year old woman by pouring bleach on her.  Mrs Warden, the woman who was attacked was eating at Ben & Jerry’s along with her family.  Previous to eating at Ben & Jerry’s, she went to watch Harry Potter at the cinemas.  Whilst she was watching the movie, she asked the boy to be quiet.  The boy apparently left the movie, went to a service station and bought a bottle of bleach.  He then drove back to the area where the movie theater was, walked into the restaurant and poured bleach over Mrs Warden’s head.  Mrs Warden had to go to the hospital but luckily there were no serious injuries.  The boy was taken to court and recently, the jury charged him.  They believed that he had committed a crime worse than bodily harm.  The sentencing will take place on January 11th, when they will decided what the punishment will be.

Christmas Strike – British Airways

Posted by: gonzaloasis on: December 14, 2009

British Airways is very likely to cause some serious trouble this Christmas break. 92% of the employees voted in favor of a strike that would start on December 22nd and last for 12 days. The consequences of this strike would be disastrous. The british paper The Guardian has calculated that this strike would affect 1 million passengers, as well as create serious trouble in Heathrow, one of the neuralgic points of European aerial traffic.
The strike is called as a protest for the company’s plans of firing 1700 employees and freezing the salaries for the next two years. Trade unions and company have until next week to reach an agreement that will avoid a halt that would very probably hurt a company with financial problems. It is BA’s first strike since 1997.
The company had announced a fusion agreement with Spanish airline Iberia last month, so it is still unclear how it would affect them. As many people from IMG are going back home for Christmas, let’s hope everything goes back to normal and they can have a safe trip.

British Airways planes won't have too much work these Christmas

Marshall Sets NFL Record

Posted by: mwmbaseball23 on: December 14, 2009

Brandon Marshall has the chance to be one of the greatest receivers in the history of the NFL.

Denver Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall set an NFL record by catching 21 passes on Sunday vs. the Colts. This broke Terrell Owens previous record of 20 catches in a game. Quarterback Kyle Orton tried to throw to Marshall an astounding 28 times in their 28-16 loss. The rest of the team only had 8 catches for 77 yards which is probably one of the reasons they lost. Marshall had previously set a team-record with 18 catches last September. Marshall now has 86 catches on the year, good for 1,008 yards, and is closing in on his third-straight 100-reception season. Marshall, nicknamed ‘The Beast”, is now 3rd in the NFL in receptions after getting off to a slow start due to injury.

Ingram Wins Heisman

Posted by: mwmbaseball23 on: December 13, 2009

Alabama running back was named the 2009 Heisman trophy winner.

Alabama sophomore running back Mark Ingram won the 2009 Heisman Trophy, awarded annually to college football’s most valuable player. In the closest vote in Heisman history, Ingram beat out Stanford’s Toby Gerhart by 28 points to capture the award Saturday night. They were followed by Colt McCoy, Ndamukong Suh, and Tim Tebow. Ingram rushed for a school-record 1,542 yards this season with an amazing 6.2 yards per carry. He is also the third consecutive sophomore to win the prestigious award and Alabama’s first Heisman winner. In his acceptance speech, Ingram became very emotional and thanked numerous people including his parents, coaches, support staff, trainers, and teachers. Ingram and the #1 ranked Crimson Tide are set to face McCoy and the #2 ranked Texas Longhorns on January 7 for the Rose Bowl.

Debunking the “2012 Doomsday”

Posted by: lazygirjl on: December 11, 2009

After watching the movie “2012″ in the theater, I am sure a lot of you are worried and are questioning why you are doing what you are doing right now when we are all going to die on December 21, 2012. Hopefully people who are gullible enough to believe in this whole doomsday theory are going to stop worrying because this whole thing is an invention by a bunch of frauds trying to get the whole world to buy worthless books and videos. This is all business-based theory with no factual information included whatsoever. None of it has any actual facts and they are certainly not scientifically proven to be true. The people promoting this idea have no knowledge of science; their only source is the Mayans Calendar. However, this “ancient prediction” by the Mayans was only invented 20 years ago for business use and publicity. Scientists say that there will not be a rare alignment of planets nor a pole shift. So don’t worry and focus on the present! The movie however, was entertaining and warns our whole world to be careful with our environment.

H1N1 Found to Attack Deep Within the Lungs

Posted by: socalgolfer on: December 10, 2009

CT Scan of an infected Lung. The Dark Spots are the infected areas.

Scientists have recently discovered and confirmed the fact that in the event a person does die from the infamous H1N1 virus, their lungs have been taken over and damaged severely. This is eerily similar in damage to the flu pandemics that killed millions of people back in 1957 and 1918. The New York Office of Chief Medical Examiner had reviewed the many “medical records, autopsy reports and microscopic slides of 34 people with H1N1 who died between May 15 and July 9, 2009, during the early days of the pandemic.” (CNN) The reports claimed to have found inflammation and damage in the lungs that went all the to the alveoli. The alveoli are tiny sacs in the furthest reaches of the lung’s airways that are vital to gas exchange with the blood. In the typical flu, only the upper part of the body’s airways are attacked. This new finding demonstrates the voracious nature of the H1N1 flu virus. It has the ability of “infecting and causing inflammation and destruction of cells from the trachea, all the way down into smaller cells of the lungs. The cells of the lung get directly attacked by the virus.” (CNN) The damage prevents the lungs from functioning properly and end up contributing to a secondary infection. Most people end up dying from a secondary infection of bacterial pneumonia.

Spain wins Davis Cup

Posted by: gonzaloasis on: December 9, 2009

I have written about this before. About four tennis players dressed in red and yellow celebrating their confirmation as the strongest power in the world at this sport and lifting an extremely heavy trophy. Spain won the Davis Cup again. Second year in a row. Fourth time in this century. The Czech Republic was not rival for this team, which counts with four players among the top-27 in the world. Stepanek has his chances against David Ferrer, thanks to a powerful serve and incredible speed at the net, but Ferrer’s attitude and fight helped him come back when losing two sets to zero. He claimed to have cried of anger and rage in the locker room after losing the second set. Nadal had done his homework beforehands, giving no chance to an out-of-condition Berdych, and the two lefty players from Madrid, Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco, who have given so many joyful moments to Spain, finished it off with an easy victory against the two best Czech players.

A response to “All Men are Pigs”

Posted by: cbizzle23 on: December 9, 2009

In one of the science classes, they are dissecting a pig.  So Julia’s article, “Men Are Pigs!” was written at the right time.   But to go with this article, I agree girls can not do anything or they are called major whores.  But if they do not do anything at all  they are considered worse.  But men, if they get some, all give them props.  So a girl can look at two ways –  one screw it and have fun or the other not do anything at all and stay away.  But in the end we all get screwed, guys or girls.  Guys just want props so they tell their guys friends.  Ggirls do not want any one to know anything because of judgment. Then if you do not do anything at all, people wonder the worst of all. So in the end, we all get screwed no matter what you do. But honestly it is better to be screwed together !

Texas Tournament for Women’s Soccer

Posted by: cbizzle23 on: December 9, 2009

We finally got off the plane, got our bags and headed to the hotel an hour away. We all saw that this weekend was going to be very long. The first day we traveled to the fields two hours away and as soon as we stepped out of the vans it started to snow ! For the Florida team this was exciting. But as soon as we started to play, it was not much fun. The second day we had a game at ten o’clock at night. We all had learned that you need to wear layers. As we stepped out on the field under the lights, and looked at each other. We looked like marsh mellows trying to kick a ball. Each one of us had at least five layers of jackets. But the most exciting part of the tournament is we got to watch the semi and the championship game for the women’s top college teams. The Final Four was amazing to watch. After fighting the weather all weekend, we were excited to land in Tampa and get in shorts.

Boston Signs Scutaro

Posted by: mwmbaseball23 on: December 5, 2009

The Boston Red Sox have found another shortstop. On Friday, they signed veteran Marco Scutaro to a 2-year deal, with an option for a third, worth $12.5 million. The deal gives the Red Sox a starting shortstop in Scutaro, and if Jed Lowrie is able to regain his game after wrist surgery, they can use Scutaro as a utility infielder. However, because the deal is for only two years, the Red Sox are paving the way for Cuban phenom Jose Iglesias to inherit the position in 2012. Assuming Scutaro is the starter, he will become the seventh player since 2003 to be the team’s opening day shortstop. If the Red Sox have one weakness as a team, it is the offensive production of their shortstop. Scutaro is just a career .265 hitter and doesn’t figure to put up big power numbers. If he can play solid defense and provide a little production in the lower half of the order, the Red Sox will be happy.

Polanco Signs With Phillies

Posted by: mwmbaseball23 on: December 5, 2009

Placido Polanco has signed a three-year, $18 million deal with the Philadelphia Philles. The contract includes a mutual option for the fourth year and bonuses for accolades such as all-star, mvp, etc. Polanco returns to Philadelphia, having played for the club from 2002-2005. Philadelphia had needed a third-baseman since declining Pedro Feliz’s option last month. Polanco will have to make the switch to third base, a position he played in the past, due to the presence of all-star Chase Utley. Polanco said he is comfortable playing third and will do anything to help the Phillies win a championship. Polanco, a 10-year veteran, is a career .303 hitter and has won 2 Gold Glove awards. The Phillies envision Polanco, a contact hitter, hitting second in the batting order, between Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley.

The Contagious Acts of Feeling

Posted by: bbss23 on: December 5, 2009

Emotions

Ever feel left out? Lonely? Separated? All by yourself? Angry? Happy? If you experience any of these feelings yourself, it could only be a matter of time before others around you experience them as well. Researchers are claiming that “loneliness” and other emotions can spread from person to person as well as habits, which can be contagious to others around you. For example if one of your closest friends is grumpy, if you surround yourself with them enough, it will only be a matter time before you become grumpy as well. It is often said that whomever you surround yourself with, you end up being like, or take part in similar activities. As we get older in life, the people we surround ourselves with make up our image and, often the first impressions that we give people will reflect the group that we associate with. One of the most difficult things I had to learn growing up was who you surround yourself greatly impacts you regardless of whether you realize it or not. Over time, your actions become similar to those around you and that can be good in instances but bad in others. My advice is be aware of the spread of contagious acts and take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself who you want to be and which peers can help get you there.

Life for Granted

Blind Side

Many of us have been to the theater recently to the new movie “Blind Side,” starring Quinton Aaron and Sandra Bullock. For those of you that haven’t seen the film, it is about a homeless inner-city student, Michael Oher, who comes from poverty but uses football and support from those that love him in order to have the lifetime opportunity of hearing his name called for the NFL draft. The “Blind Side” is currently the number two film in America and is inspiring football players, students and parents everywhere. More important then all the money made at the box office is the message that this film has delivered. So much in life we take for granted and few times do we stop, reflect, and appreciate all that we do have. We have stopped being grateful for what we have and instead we complain about what we don’t have. Another aspect of life that is commonly overlooked is how focused we are on entitlement and self-importance. Often I hear complaints about what I don’t have and what I “should have.” Particularly in the world of sports, athletes complain about a missed shot, a dropped pass or a strikeout. We get caught up in our successes or failures and don’t realize millions of less fortunate kids would give anything to be in our place out there on the field or court. The littlest things in life we take for granted, particularly here at IMG. I am not blaming or calling out anyone, as I struggle with this myself. Here at IMG we as student-athletes have the opportunity to get a quality education in the morning and play the game we love all afternoon. Millions of other athletes do not get this opportunity that we are blessed with. The “Blind Side” is an inspirational movie about a football player who went from “rags to riches,” but the meaning and lessons it conveys goes so much deeper into what life is really about.

Phoenix Showcase

Posted by: devu91 on: December 4, 2009

My soccer team at IMG is heading to Phoenix, Arizona today to take part in the US Soccer Academy League Showcase. It is one of the biggest events of the year, and almost every college coach will be in attendance. The competition is very high, every team from our league across the nation will be there. Also, some U18 national teams will be there to play friendlies against each other. The showcase usually also has scouts form Europe watching. A solid performance at this showcase could catapult you into a propserous college career. It really is a huge opportunity. My team has a game on Saturday, Sunday and on Tuesday. Hopefully we get 3 wins which will look great in front of all the college coaches.

Black Friday

Posted by: devu91 on: December 4, 2009

Being that I’m not from the United States, I am nto accustomed to the tradition of Thanksgiving and the aftermath known as “Black Friday”. Last week, I spent thanksgiving at a teammates house in Bradenton and we decided to check out the sales at the Prime Outlets at 12:30am.

It was madness! The traffic was backed up a mile from the mall and finding parking was almost impossible. At the mall, there were people everywhere. I couldn’t believe there were so many people that go shopping in the middle of the night until the early hours of the morning. It’s something I’ve never seen before. There were even people wearing pyjamas.

It was strange to see a jam-packed shopping mall, with everyone from the ages of 10 to 60, at 2:00am. I also don’t realize why the shops don’t just run the sales during the day, what benefit is there to do it night? However, it is kind of cool to have a midnight shopping night once a year.

Pedroia to Move to Shortshop for the Red Sox

Posted by: charliekennedy on: December 4, 2009

The Boston Red Sox suddenly changes Dustin Pedroia into playing shortstop.  According to the Redsox, there was an open hole in the shortstop position.  So Pedroia was the one that will fit for the job.  Back in college, he played shortstop in his career at Arizona State College.  Also, he played shortstop for the Redsox in the minors.  In their minds, they looked at three different players to fill in the second base position, Adam Kennedy, Orlando Hudson and Placido Polanco.  I do not really know what will happen with the new middle infield arrangement.  Maybe this could help the Redsox next year in baseball.  The only way how we can tell is when they play the game, and every play is successfully executed.

Concussions in the NFL

Posted by: charliekennedy on: December 4, 2009

In the game of football, there has been some widespread of criticizim about football players getting concussions.  Also, to make things worse for players, they are allowed to get back in the game after experiencing some symptoms.  Back then it was safe for football players to go back out and play, but recent changes have been announced.  The new rule of this issue will go out, after it goes through a congressional hearing, to the public and warn about this kind of injury.  Now according to a league statement, “symptoms that require immediate removal include amnesia, poor balance and an abnormal neurological examination, whether or not those symptoms quickley subside.”  As of our society, this may impact on the young players, as well as the N.F.L. players, of the repetition of concussions may be serious.  Speaking of N.F.L. players getting concussions, two of the last season’s super bowl quarterbacks coped with injuries including, Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kurt Warner of the Arizona Cardinals.

Championship Week

Posted by: dillonmoyer on: December 4, 2009

Florida is ranked number 1

This week is one of the most important weeks in college football. It is a time when rivals duke it out for bragging rights for the next year. A lot of the games are between in-state rival universities. The most important games are being played to name the conference champion. To start off the week Oregon plays at home against Oregon State in the Civil War on Thursday. The winner of this game will earn a spot in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California to face off against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The biggest game this weekend though is the SEC championship game between the unbeaten Florida gator and the also unbeaten Alabama Crimson Tide. The winner of that game will play in the BCS national championship. There will be a lot of good football on this weekend so make sure to watch.
